In 1995, Ron Herrod began R.H.E.M.A. (Ron Herrod Evangelism Ministries Association) following 36 years as Senior Pastor of some of America's largest and fastest growing churches. His ministry has included national television, crusades and mission projects in more than 30 countries throughout the world, an international tape ministry, and the writing of seven books. Dr. Herrod has served his denomination (Southern Baptist Convention) on the International Mission Board, Lousiana College Board, Southern Seminary Board, Vice-President of the SBC's Pastor's Conference, President of Tennesee Pastor's Conference, President of the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists (COSBE) and in many other capacities. He is a graduate of William Carey College (BA), New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (ThM), and Luther Rice Seminary (ThD). He has twice been elected President of the Luther Rice Seminary International Alumni. He was also honored as Alumnus of the Year in 2000. The focus of R.H.E.M.A. is evangelistic crusades in the U.S. and overseas, mission projects involving pastors and lay teams, consultants in missions to local churches, Bible Conferences, Marriage and Family Conferences, and Prophecy Conferences. A major missions focus of R.H.E.M.A. is the R.H.E.M.A. Institute which trains national pastors and church leaders in developing countries for effective church planting and leadership.
Ron and Emily (his wife of 47 years) have three children and eight grandchildren (and one on the way), and make their home in beautiful East Tennessee.
Dr. Herrod was diagnosed with multiple myeloma October, 2001. The disease is now in remission. Please pray for total healing and strength to continue this ministry. Dr Herrod believes God is continuing to give healing and strength. He has chosen Psalm 118:17 for his faith verse - "I will not die but I will live to proclaim the works of the Lord" Because of God given strength through the fervent prayers of many, Dr. Herrod is now able to continue his ministries in local churches. He has several opening available for 2010 and is now scheduling for 2011 and 2012. Churches are finding the 48 Hour (Saturday - Monday) and the One Day Harvest Sundays to be very effective in reaching a harvest of souls. The international ministries of R.H.E.M.A. continues to grow and graduates of the Institutes are now planting churches in India, Nicaragua, Nepal, Kenya, and Liberia.
